Alone-Together

Why does it feel so lonely, when in truth, we are not alone? – is a question I have found myself asking repeatedly.

I have not had a single conversation with another woman, close to my age, going through Pregnancy Loss, in the past year, until after I decided to share my loss on social media a month back. Opening up has helped but is sharing the only way to get the support we need?

Every loss mom has these questions:
Is my grief even valid?
Should I not be as upset as I am because it happened early in my pregnancy?
Will they understand?
Will it make them uncomfortable?
Is it okay for me to feel sad even though it’s been a while?
Some women have gone through worse, should I even make a big deal out of this?
Will they think less of me as a woman?
Will they think it’s my fault?

And that’s not even scratching the surface.

By the time we’re done questioning ourselves, we end up feeling like it’s just better to not share. And if you don’t want to, that’s okay.

If you’ve chosen not to share, if you’ve chosen not to follow this page or like this post, and if you find yourself reading this from the sidelines, I see you.

You are seen, and I hope this makes you feel a little less lonely today. Even if it’s a teeny tiny bit.
